through dramatic fynbos mountains & gorges, past rock pools &

Kleinberg Trail - The
extension of Kantoor St, as the old Robertson Road, this 2-hour walk offers
spectacular views of McGregor. You end
up where the McGregor crest lies.
Krans Nature Reserve - Interesting Robertson Karoo vegetation, with some rare plants,
abundant birdlife, small mammals & tortoises. Former settlement from the
Middle Stone Age. 6 short walks from Smith, van Reenen & Voortrekker Streets, as shown
in pamphlets of The Heritage Society
Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve - 5km outside the village on the
Robertson Road to enjoy hiking, biking & birding. Self-issue permits available at the reserve

- Heron Trail: Easy 3km walk which takes about an hour. The route leads over fairly flat terrain to two
dams, each with bird hides.
- Rooikat Trail: Circular 18km trail winds through the
Elandsberg Mountains, offering scenic views of the Langeberg and Riviersonderend
Mountains. Fairly strenuous - 7-8 hours
of walking.
Suggested gravel/off road cycling routes:
Old Robertson Road - the extension of Kantoor St, to cycle from the village on a quiet dirt road, past handmade brickworks, through working farmland. Three options: 1) Out & back as far as
you like 2) 17km circular joining the tarred road passing Vrolijkheid or 3)
28km circular route to end junction with tarred Robertson Rd.
Rhebokskraal Road - Dirt farm road from the village through a drift, surrounded by vines
& olive orchards, returning to the village via the Stormsvlei road. Two options: 8km or 14km.
Strykhoogte Pass - Dirt road from the village along the Stormsvlei Road, up over the
Strykhoogte Pass and back into the village via the Robertson road. Quite strenuous. 32km.
Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve - Situated 5km outside of the village as a pleasant circular route of 8km
- about an hour.
