Mesopotamia is a Greek word meaning between the rivers. The rivers are the Tigris and Euphrates which flow through modern Iraq.Northern Mesopotamia is made up of hills and plains. The land is quite fertile due to seasonal rains, and the rivers and streams flowing from the mountains. Southern Mesopotamia is made up of marshy areas and wide, flat, barren plains. Cities developed along the rivers which flow through the region.
Polytheism:The belief in or worship of more than one god.The Sumerian gods often had human characteristics in that they were sometimes good and sometimes bad.Although Anu was an important Mesopotamian god, archaeologists have yet to find a picture of him.They also believed in genies, demons, and evil spirits. Adad God of Storms he is shown on top of a lion-dragon or bull.
