Adyar slum
95% of the slum are Dalits and rest 5% are Muslims. Since there is no dominant caste, there is no form of discrimination in the slum. But, they face certain problems finding work.

Kannagi Nagar & Errial Nagar
Mostly SCs, only form of discrimination they faced was during resettlement.


Women and Crime


Kannagi Nagar
How is the problem of alcoholism leading to crime against women at home.
Petty thefts; children and youngsters are the main accused.

Conclusion


The slums and resettlement colonies spoken about may or may not be legal but the challenges faced by its residents are similar. They vary from caste issues to resource crisis.But when they are displaced into a formal resettlement, their livelihoods are jeopardised.
