what's the issue?

Trampolines, swimming pools, treehouse kits and certain breeds of puppies make children bubble over with glee. It is easy to forget, but many backyard or playroom items can give you insurance headaches.

It’s important to notify if if you have added a swimming pool or trampoline. Otherwise, the insurance company has the right to deny claims resulting from these items because they were not informed.

They will want to see that safety precautions are in place, such as fences, locking gates, or alarms. Also, some companies will not insure you if you have a trampoline.

trampoline injuries

80,831 ER visits in 2016 were due to injuries from the use of playground climbing equipment. That’s nearly 23,000 fewer than from trampolines. Among the activities that are ranked as less dangerous than trampolining: snowboarding, bicycling, sledding, skateboarding, ice hockey, and football.

Pet owners dilemma

Homeowner's insurance doesn't just protect against natural disasters, theft and other risks. It also protects against lawsuits arising from injuries or damages, even those related to pets. Unfortunately, because of increasing costs of dog bites and dog-related incidents, many insurance companies refuse to write coverage for homeowners who also own certain breeds of dog. Be sure to let us know if you have, or acquire, a pet to be sure it does not affect your insurance.
