Dealing with Office Gossip

Rhonda Scharf, CSP, HoF

Rhonda Scharf, CSP, HoF

ON THE RIGHT TRACK specializes in motivating and training organizations and associations with a unique expertise in efficiency and effectiveness. I am very confident that I can provide you with a realistic and informative session for your team, and make it fun at the same time.

I call it "Edutainment" (Education + Entertainment). I have a solid content core, but it is delivered in a relaxed and humourous style. I like to say that I am allergic to lecture and I will spend our time discussing the information in a very interactive environment. My experience has been that this allows everyone to picture themselves in each situation, and apply the information immediately because they completely understand the where, the why, and the how-to.

Because I have a philosophy about the high level of interaction I always involve the audience. I like to use humour, participation for everyone, and applicable situations and examples.

When you hire me you are getting a highly experienced speaker who has spoken in dozens of different countries and to literally tens of thousands of people. Some companies I have spoken to include: Bristol Myers, Sony, Mercedes Benz, The Canadian Olympic Association, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and most of the Fortune 100 companies today.

In 2017 I was inducted into the Canadian Speaking Hall of Fame and earned my CSP (Certified Speaking Professional) in 2002. The CSP is the highest earned designation in the industry and the Hall of Fame speaks for itself. I am only one of two people worldwide who has earned their CSP, HoF and been awarded the peer recognition award, Spirit of CAPS.

I have eight books all focusing on workplace efficiency, and the ninth book is currently underway.

How to Deal with Office Gossip

Why do people leave good jobs? The #1 reason people leave good jobs is because of the people in the workplace.

How an organization deals with gossip in the workplace can mean the difference between growing and thriving, or disintegrating from within. Office gossip is, unfortunately, a fact of life - what you do with it is up to you.

Stopping Gossip tracks before it ruins your reputation, your office morale, your brand!

- Learning to Tell the Difference between conversation and gossip (you would hate to be an accidental gossip!)
- Why it is wrong to gossip (everyone does it!)
- How can we protect against gossip and incivility
- What to do when the gossip is about you (what you should say, what you should do, how you should deal with the damage to your reputation)
- Setting up a “no gossip” culture in your office
