"The new Commonwealth"


In 1949 it was renamed the Commonwealth of Nations which became a union of people with very different cultures.


WHAT IS it for?


1. The Commonwealth establishes significant cultural and historical connections between first world countries and third/fourth world countries.

2. It creates an atmosphere of economic cooperation

3. It promotes democracy and human rights

ORGANIZATIONAL SET UP


Queen Elisabeth II


She is recognized as the main symbol of the Commonwealth but she holds no executive power

The secretary


He represents the Commonwealth executive power. He gives assistance and he is responsible for developing Commonwealth's policies.

Ministerial Action Group


It is composed of nine foreign ministers. The group makes recommendations for the actions of the organization and it also can propose the expulsion or suspension of some members.

Foundation


It promotes activities linked to civil societies as developing plans to improve life quality (education, health systems...)

the Commonwealth games


The second largest multi-sports event after the Olympic Games, organized every four years.
