Throughout this guide you'll find our own Wish Lists; we all seem to like similar things and it's an office in-joke that we each have managed to buy items that one (or more) of the others has had their eye on at past fairs ( - inadvertently, of course!!)
. . and so can you!
Indie Week is coming up from November 26th . . .and it's all about supporting small local businesses.
As on the Blue Magpie website, we've grouped makers into Categories - so there's a section for
Art & Illustration, Ceramics, Glass, Jewellery, Textiles & Wood.
We've allocated each maker a page, and there are several examples of their work to give you a flavour for what they do.
You can then click through to their own websites and online shops where you can purchase items directly from them.
And remember - EVERY PURCHASE HELPS!
We're big fans of Emma's work here at Blue Magpie HQ and over the years we have watched as her portfolio of Cityscapes has increased.
Although Malvern is not a 'City' - there are nonetheless some wonderful iconic architectural buildings and houses here - all with lots of history and all nestled in front of the glorious Malvern Hills.
It's for this reason that we commissioned Emma to make an exclusive artwork for us featuring Elmslie House, of course - as well as 26 other landmarks and features - including the famous Malvern-made Morgan cars, spring water wells and the Victorian lamposts made famous by their inclusion in the C.S.Lewis 'Narnia' books.
Although you can buy the Limited Edition Prints and Gicleé prints from Emma directly, you can only buy the cards and tea-towels from Elmslie House - there is a link on our Instagram page and more information on the Blue Magpie website - go check it out!
They make great, postable and affordable Christmas gifts and all sales directly fund the running of Elmslie House, which is itself a small family-run independent business.
LEFT : Cards (Blank inside) in either Black or Blue £2.50 each
RIGHT: Handprinted Limited Edition Prints (edition of 100) £150 sold unframed but wrapped flat with a backing board and in clear cellophane
We hope to be able to welcome you back to Elmslie House in December, restrictions permitting. As the bar and café areas are difficult to run this year with all the necessary social distancing protocols, we are instead looking to run a Festive 'Cake-away'. This way we can continue to serve Teas, Coffees, & Cakes but also Mulled Wine and Mince Pies . . but all to go (or to eat outside in the Christmas garden grotto)
Keep a look out for further announcements - we'll be updating the website, Instagram and Facebook pages as soon as we know if we can proceed. In the meantime, many thanks go out to everyone for their continued support - including the makers who have helped us to produce this guide. I'd also like to thank my Blue Magpie Team - Charlotte, Katie & Louise - three very talented individuals in their own right that I continue to have the pleasure and privilege to work with. Thanks Ladies! Anna (owner of Elmslie and The Original Blue Magpie x)
