Call Features

using Microsoft Teams

On-the-Spot Calls

Virtual calls can be made on the spot, without setting up a Teams Meeting.
To start, open the chat with whom you wish to call.
Click the camera icon for a video call.
Click the phone icon for an audio-only call.
On-the-spot calls are best for quick touch-points or informal check-ins with colleagues.

Add members to an active Teams call

Add new members to a Teams call that has started. This is helpful if you require a colleague to join a call or meeting already in progress.
To add additional participant(s) to a call, click on the ‘Participants’ icon on the Teams meeting control panel.
In the ‘Invite People’ search bar, type in the name of the person you wish to add.

Screen Share with Audio

When screen sharing, you can play a video or audio clip as part of a presentation in a Teams meeting. Your audience will have clear sound for a full presentation experience.

To enable this feature during a call, click on the 'Screen Share' icon on the Teams meeting control panel.
Select the screen to share, and remember to click 'Include system audio' on the top-left corner.

Enable/Disable System Audio Share during Presentation

You can also choose to enable or disable system sound after you've already begun sharing your screen. Just select 'Include computer sound' icon in the sharing controls near the top of the window.
Click the icon again to stop sharing system sound.

Blakes Background Effects

Blakes rolled out our customized backgrounds on Teams. Not only is it best practice to utilize the background effects, it adds a polished touch to your video calls and meetings.
To change your video call background, click on the More Options icon and select 'Show background effects'. Pick a background style that best suits you. Feel free to change them as frequently as you like.

Record Teams Meetings

Any Teams meeting or call can be recorded to capture audio, video, and screen sharing activity. This feature is prominently used to capture presentations or seminars to share with colleagues later. Recording meetings is limited only to the meeting organizer or another Blakes employee in the call.
To start recording, click the More Options icon and select 'Start recording.' This will notify other participants.
To stop recording, again, click the More Options icon and select 'Stop recording.'
The meeting recording will display in the meeting chat and is saved in your OneDrive Recordings folder.

Accessing Teams Meeting Recordings

All Teams meeting recordings are stored in the OneDrive Recordings folder of the person who initiated the recording.
To access the recording, open File Explorer.
On the left hand panel, expand the 'OneDrive - Blake, Cassels and Graydon LLP' folder and open the Recordings folder.
