Norman Jaques studied at the Manchester College of Art and Technology. In 1948 he won the Proctor Travelling scholarship, and in 1954 the Proctor Award and Giles Bequest Award from the V&A. He taught at Manchester Polytechnic from 1950 to 1982 and was president of the Manchester Academy of Fine Art from 1984 to 1990. The V&A and public galleries in Manchester, Oldham and Stockport hold examples of his work.

Lundström studied at technical schools in Stockholm, Malmö and Lund, and at the Skåne Painting School in Malmö. He had solo shows from the 1920s, and was a member of the Skåne Art Association and Swedish Art Association. He painted mainly villages and landscapes of Southern Sweden, and also took study tips to Italy. Lundström's work is held in the collection of Trelleborgs Museum.

The Szocialista Brigàd badge on one of the prints dates these historical pieces to the mid to late 1960s, when Hungary was under the control of the Soviet Union. They represent an idealised vision of 'Goulash Communism', a form of market socialism in Hungary which encouraged productivity and consumerism. The Szocialista Brigàd was a movement of work competition. Badges and diplomas were awarded to work groups that maintained high productivity and conformed to socialist rules of behaviour.
