Art Niche

Welcome to Art Niche! Art Niche was conceived by artist Donald Jurney and Williams Fine Art Dealers Owner and artist Ginny Williams. Together we have over 60 years of experience navigating the ups and downs of the art market and in the making of paintings. We believe that by pooling the collective talents of the best artists working today, we will build something amazing benefitting both artists and collectors.

At Art Niche we believe that there are too few galleries that offer work because they truly believe in the merit of the work, and of the value of the artist in society. We also hold that there is a way to sell art that puts more of the sale price into the hands of the creators.

With the growth of online art marketplaces, it is now possible to show a collection of work without the high cost of a brick and mortar space and all that goes with that model. While seeing works in person is always best, the fact remains that the purchase of art online is growing exponentially. Especially in the case of smaller works, which is our niche, collectors are increasingly comfortable buying online. The physical size of a small piece of art works for everyone and the price-point of smaller works enables a wider audience to participate in collecting. We see this annually with the popularity of small works shows at holiday time. If we add to this the immense geographical reach of an online space when compared with a traditional gallery, we have the makings of a ready and eager audience.

Art Niche provides a truly curated experience where collectors can see the best art in one place online, without having to comb through thousands of works using inaccurate filters and tags. We offer a monthly E-catalog that presents a pleasant viewing experience, and a story about both the art and the artist, allowing the collector to feel connected and involved in the art buying experience.

The best part of Art Niche for collectors is that we present art of consistent quality, which is unique in vision, and excellent in execution. We choose art that we believe will stand the test of time. For artists the welcome news is that you retain 75% of the purchase price of the art.

How it Works

Work submission is open to all but we can only respond to those whose works we feel will fit within the upcoming catalog. There are many factors that go into making the selection of work for each month's offering, so please do not be discouraged if your work is not selected for a given month.

Details, Details

-Artists may submit up to 4 works per catalog.
-Works that do not exceed 19x24x2 inches (or 456 square inches), including the frame are paid at 75% of the retail price to the artist.
-Works that exceed 456 square inches including the frame are paid at 70% to the artist.
-Works exceeding 1200 square inches do not need to be framed for submission, but neat edges are required.
-All works must be framed for inclusion on the catalog except those meeting the international artist exception and those exceeding 1200 square inches.
-International artists: if framing will cause inordinate shipping costs or delays, we will waive the framing requirement.
-Artists must send at least 2 high quality photographs of each work in order to be considered: one of the painting, and one one in the frame.
-Photos should be titled in the following manner: Artist last name_title__surface & medium_painting dimensions_outer frame dimensions_price
-Submissions must be emailed to artnichecatalog@gmail.com with the subject line: artist's last name + month submission (ex: Jurney, June Submission).

-Submissions are due on the 1st of each month, for the catalog that will release the 15th of that month. So, for example, submissions are due on September 1st, for the catalog that will release September 15th.

-Once accepted into the catalog the artist agrees to virtually consign the work to Art Niche for the duration of the published catalog. So if your work is accepted for the September issue, you will consign the work to Art Niche from the time of acceptance, until October 15th. Accepted artists will also be required to provide biographical materials.

-When your work sells, Art Niche will notify you promptly. We will either ask you to ship your work to us, or we will ship to you a branded strong-box to use in shipping your piece, along with all appropriate paperwork and a prepaid shipping label. It is then your responsibility to ship the piece within 3 days. Please note that Art Niche will add up to $100 to the retail price you provide us with, to cover shipping and administrative costs associated with the free shipping Art Niche offers clients. This amount will not be included in the artist's commission split.

-Payment will be made within 30 days of the sale.

The Power of Group Promotion

One of the ways Art Niche can offer such high commission splits to our artists is group marketing. Pooling the audiences of all artists will benefit everyone. Therefore, artists accepted into the catalog are required to share their work(s) being sold on their own marketing platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, web site, newsletters, etc. Upon acceptance we will provide wording and hashtags to be used so that marketing is streamlined and consistent across the board.

Sample Entry

On the following pages you will see a sample artist chapter in the catalog.

"Often a painting is a conversation between disparate shapes and forms…here brilliant, there disguised---in a carefully-conceived dance of light. This may be a celebration of a place, perhaps, or an investigation of an evanescent mood. For the viewer who has both the time and inclination to really look, one hopes to afford, by way of a painted surface wrought of subtleties, the opportunity to explore at leisure the wonder of the world in which we live.”
- Donald Jurney

Thank you

It has long been a passion of ours to help artists. Like you, we believe great art is vital to society and should not be subject to trends and the whims of a few. Great art should speak for itself. The art world can be a tough place in which to exist as an artist. We are so excited to contribute to making the work of the artist a little easier and a bit more rewarding by enabling your art to be seen, appreciated, and, ultimately, collected by a broad audience, thereby enabling you to work more freely. We look forward to partnering with you.

Donald and Ginny
