ON THE RIGHT TRACK specializes in motivating and training organizations and associations with a unique expertise in efficiency and effectiveness. I am very confident that I can provide you with a realistic and informative session for your team and make it fun at the same time.

I call it "Edutainment" (Education + Entertainment). I have a solid content core, but it is delivered in a relaxed and humourous style. I like to say that I am allergic to lecture and I will spend our time discussing the information in a very interactive environment. My experience has been that this allows everyone to picture themselves in each situation and apply the information immediately because they completely understand the where, the why, and the how-to.

Because I have a philosophy about a high level of interaction, I always involve the audience. I like to use humor, participation for everyone, and applicable situations and examples.

When you hire me, you are getting a highly experienced speaker who has spoken in dozens of different countries and to literally tens of thousands of people. I do a lot of (current) training with state, local, and federal government. I have also worked with other Surveyor groups, such as the Alberta Land Surveyors' Association and Association of Ontario Land Surveyors, and Holt County Assessors, so I am comfortable with the audience.

In 2017, I was inducted into the Canadian Speaking Hall of Fame, earned my GSF (Global Speaking Fellow) in 2019 (meaning I have a truly international business), and earned my CSP (Certified Speaking Professional) in 2002. Along with the peer recognition award, Spirit of CAPS (Canadian Association of Professional Speakers), I am the only speaker in the entire world to have earned those four designations. I am a tried and true reliable option for your training.

The team that also works at ON THE RIGHT TRACK are all virtually certified, several have their Certified Speaking Professional and are all talented in delivering workshops. DO NOT hesitate to keep that cost-effective option in mind. You can hire me and my team!

How to be a Leader - Not a Boss

Whatever it is we call ourselves at work, we all need to get work done while dealing with other people. But leadership today isn’t like 40 years ago. Getting people to work by saying “because I’m the boss” just doesn’t work anymore.

Because being a leader isn’t about having authority or exercising power. Being a leader is a learned skill. It means acting in a way that people are moved to action by your influence without overt displays of authority.

As Ken Blanchard said, “The key to successful leadership today is influence, not authority”.

To be a personal leader means to be able to envision, organize, act, coordinate, understand motivations, and be a catalyst for action in the workplace.

This workshop is a powerful learning tool for people who seek to become true leaders, the catalysts that promote positive change.

o The difference between "Boss" and "Leader"
o 10 attributes of a leader in 2024 - how do you compare
o The new power that leaders need to have: The ability to impact, influence, and inspire. Learn easy-to-apply tips you can implement immediately!
o Understanding trust
o What it means to “really listen” (hint: it isn’t the same as hearing)
o Maximizing your emotional intelligence to ensure success
o Essential tools for tough conversations, performance feedback, and other supervisory challenges
