Amma Pharmacy: government-run chain of subsidised medicine.
On 26 June 2014, Amma Pharmacies started with 10 outlets. By the time May 2015 arrived, there were 100 Amma Pharmacies in various parts of Tamil Nadu.
During the launch, Jayalalithaa aka Amma addressed her party workers through through a video conference.
These pharmacies sell medicine at a subsidised cost - 15 percent according to Deccan Chronicle, 10-15 percent according to Hindu Businessline, and 20 to 35 percent according to Tuticorin Collector M Ravikumar (The Hindu). Various editorial content have various things to say about the quality of the medicine.
