Known for its 19th- and 20th-century Neo-Baroque and Neo-Rococo architecture and often called The Little Vienna, Ruse has always been one of Bulgaria's centers of artistry, beauty, and innovation. The town's most distinguished feature is the Monument of Freedom built to commemorate those who gave their lives in the fight for the country's independence.
One of the strongest tourist attractions that the town boasts are its buildings and fountains. Ruse's center was designed in the beginning of the 20th century and remains the same to this day. The many fountains that give locals and tourists alike a break from the stifling hot summer temperatures belly the city's proximity to the river Danube.
The old buildings aren't the only thing that Ruse impresses its visitors with. The town holds a variety of exhibits throughout the year. From sculpting with sand, to ice, to wood installations, there is never a loss for art events to visit.
Ruse houses one of the most extensive parks in Bulgaria. Tall old trees line the pathways upon which locals stroll without a care. The Revival Park is one of the go-to places for many generations. with entertainment such as stone chess tables, and a place for chalk drawings the park is a city favorite.
Every March for 10 days the center of the city is flooded by music. Classical concerts are held every night in the city's opera house and theater hall, and music is played through the outside sound system.
