Sappo Field Trip

Learning is best enhanced when the subject presented lies within its own natural habitat. For the student, this would require a journey away from the regular educational environment into the outside community. The purpose of the trip is for more than simple observation and data collecting that can bore the onlooker. Rather, Sappo students are prepared to interact with each other and their teachers as they experience the lesson in its natural state. Placing the student in the world beyond the classroom is an essential part of learning and personal growth.

Annual Bowling Trip

Sportsmanship expresses an aspiration or ethos that the activity will be enjoyed for its own sake, with proper consideration for fairness, ethics, mutual respect, and a sense of community toward teammates as well as with one's competitors. Character development can best be developed when the lessons are learned in the field. Long before the bowling excursion begins, SHAPE practitioners are forming teams that will compete for first, second, and third place positions. The teams are strategically put together to foster camaraderie, role model support, peer influence, and patience.

Red Cross Youth Club

Sappo School students started a Red Cross Youth Club at the school in March of 2011. We are the first and only private school to have a Youth Club. The first club meeting was on March 18th, where we voted for our Board Members and began deciding on which causes to help with.

Our Walk for Breast Cancer

What a great success yesterday's walk was! Sappo School collected well over $1600. We want to thank each and every one of the Sappo family for all the hard work.

Differentiated Learning

Parents and students need to know that learning styles are as varied as our individual personalities are. We all have strengths that need to be nurtured and weaknesses that need even more attention. Awareness of how each student learns will enable parents and teachers to concentrate on more specific ways to educate with motivational strategies that are carefully designed.

These techniques can be best applied in small class settings where adjustments are made before a learning crisis happens. This requires team effort. Together, SHAPE educators must be involved in a continual search for any and all research that may support their efforts.

Among the difficulties that children face are ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, Reactive Attachment Disorder, School Phobia and Emotional Disabilities. Sappo School educators are skilled to teach to these disorders.
